Leading people into a maturing new life in Jesus Christ

SeeKing Jesus

As we begin 2012 Jesus advises: “Don’t be anxious about your life … but seek first God’s kingdom and his goodness, and everything else will be provided” (see Matthew 6:25, 33).

In other words: Don’t worry about clothing, food, or your job. And don’t be afraid of the crumbling world economy, the results of the U.S. election in November, the climax of the Mayan calendar in December, or the other ten thousand things that can distract your focus from me.

Instead, do this: Pursue God with the passion of everything you are — heart, soul, mind and body — and you’ll live a Kingdom-life, today (see Mark 12:28-34).

Jesus told his distracted, complaining friend Martha, “You need only one thing, and your sister Mary has chosen it. So chill out and hang out with me. Then you’ll build something never-ending, something no one can take from you” (see Luke 10:38-42).

This year our focus at Edmonds Adventist is “SeeKing Jesus”. We’ll be seeking the Father, asking him to open our spiritual eye, to give us a spirit of wisdom and revelation as we come to know him and the greatness of his Spirit’s power in us through King Jesus. (See Ephesians 1:16-19).

One of the things we’ll be doing toward this end is meeting together in the afternoon on the second Sabbath of each month. This will be a time to praise, pray, and wait before the Lord as a church.

The first of what we’ll call “Still Time” will be Sabbath afternoon, January 14 at 4:00 pm at the church. While things are often chaotic in our world and in our lives, there is still time to experience a new kind of life in God’s kingdom.

Don’t miss it.
